And now? I actually finish things.

Wild, I know.

I struggled with procrastination for as long as I can remember. Delayed, waited, avoided. I remember being the kid with my pencil still moving, finishing homework assignments as the teacher was picking up our worksheets.

As an adult I learned to limp along and rely on external pressure to get things done. I didn't want anyone to be mad or disappointed in me... but I also needed them to be just a little annoyed so I would get moving.

Then one night the bottom fell out...

The literal bottom fell out of a drawer in my kitchen while I was making dinner...

Measuring spoons, baking cups, random utensils all clattering across the floor. Dangit! I knew it was getting wonky but

I thought it could wait a little longer.

The dogs ran in to investigate, assuming the noise meant food.

Great.

Now everything needed washing.

I turned to open the dishwasher and remembered: oh riiiiight, I had also been putting off calling to get it fixed. It had mysteriously stopped working weeks ago. I’d been hand-washing dishes ever since, telling myself “I’d deal with it tomorrow”.

Meanwhile, tonight I was supposed to be migrating my entire website to a new platform… something I’d waited until the absolute last minute to tackle. If I didn’t finish by midnight, I’d lose access to everything on the old one. Who doesn't love a deadline... amiright?

And the dinner sizzling on the stove behind me? Overdone and dry now. Naturally. I was starving because I’d put off eating most of the day, too.

“Why am I like this?!”

None of this was a surprise. I’d known about all of it for a while. And I’d let every single thing pile up into one giant life traffic jam… again.

That night, standing in my messy kitchen with burnt dinner and a broken dishwasher and a ticking clock on my website and dog hair now stuck to everything, I made a vow: I was going to figure out why I kept doing this to myself.

What was actually fueling my habit of delaying everything until “later” when I knew later always came with a hefty interest rate.

But first, I had to put that vow off until tomorrow. Because right now I had a catastrophe to clean up and it would not wait.

over the years I tried everything

SEEKING SOLUTIONS

Over the years, I tried everything....

+ New Year’s resolutions (abandoned by February).

+ Planners (half-filled, then forgotten). Apps (deleted after a week).

+ Affirmations (felt weird).

+ Books (stacks and stacks).

+ Endless YouTube videos.

+ Podcasts promising the”one weird trick” that would fix everything.

+ Coaching with people who meant well but couldn't relate to the level of delay I was dealing with.

None of it stuck.

It wasn’t until I started facing myself by really looking at the emotions underneath all the things I was putting off that something finally shifted. Not a dramatic overnight transformation. More like... the gears started turning in a different direction.

I stopped fighting myself and started getting curious instead.

I went from default delay to actually moving with life. From dreading my to-do list to (most days) genuinely enjoying the satisfaction of done.

And look, I’m not going to pretend I never feel the pull to put things off. I still work my own system. But now I can catch it. I can be kinder to myself when the impulse shows up. And I can move through it instead of getting stuck in the shame spiral of “Why can’t I just DO this?!”

fast forward til today

WHAT I DO NOW

These days, I help creative women who are brilliant, multi-passionate, and deeply capable but stuck in the exhausting cycle of starting things and not finishing them.

Women who have ideas for days but hard drives full of half-done projects. Who know they’re capable of so much more but can’t seem to get out of their own way. Who’ve tried all the planners and hacks and apps and are starting to wonder if they’re just... broken somehow.

(Spoiler: You’re not.)

The struggle with finishing isn’t a character flaw. It’s not laziness.

It’s not a lack of discipline or motivation or wanting it badly enough.

It’s usually a sign that something underneath needs attention.

It’s something the productivity apps were never designed to touch.

a different approach

THE THIRD WAY

Over the years I have become certified as an emotional coach and Inner Voice Facilitator, and now I specialize in procrastination and avoidance... which is a fancy way of saying:

I help you understand what’s really going on when you can’t seem to make yourself 'do the thing'.

My work blends the nervous system science with the soul stuff. The practical with the psychological. The “here’s what to do” with the “here’s why you haven’t been able to do it.”

I don’t do hustle culture.

I also don’t do the “just manifest it and trust the universe” approach (that conveniently skips over the actual doing part).

I believe there’s a third way: creating from a place that feels good and actually gets things done. Working with your brain instead of against it. Finishing projects without burning yourself out in the process.

Because here’s what I know for sure: Done really is more fun. (Not “perfect”… Done.)

Done Is More Fun

The world doesn't need another soulless, extractive corporation. It needs people who have come alive to their unique gifts, skills, talents, and abilities. People brave enough to share their emerging work. People who create prolifically, embody their medicine, and cultivate the resilience to be themselves in a world that would homogenize them. We need courageous, self-trusting creatives who move through the world unbound by internal constraints—becoming beacons of inspiration for others to do the same.

Ultimately, Done Is More Fun™ (and Done Together™) exists to build momentum toward a just, equitable, sustainable, and joyous world of human flourishing—rising from the rubble of our currently crumbling systems.
